Old Postage Stamps - What to Learn

The cause of this is because my Granddad had a collection and it's now my duty to maintain.  It's amazing the number of things that you must know to keep them correctly.

Being able to experience the whole selection of old postage stamps was a cure.  It took me quite a while but I went through and took a listing of each and every stamp.  It's always great to have a comprehensive record of your collection.  Additionally, it helps for insurance purposes look at this.

I was quite keen to take them home and consequently I saved the old postage stamps wrongly (for a brief time).  I had them in a set position on the ground.    You also need them to be left in a dark place that's cool and dry.  If possible you want the region to be of zero humidity.

After I had the album at home I wanted to purchase some stamps for this.  I was eager to 'stamp' my character on it.  I bought a couple of stamps, essentially any I liked, but then the record lost its way.  I decided it'd be better to do a theme and so make it a bit more structured.

These days you can purchase old postage stamps all over the place.  The first place that I went to was that the post office itself.  There you can purchase them at face value although they are not presented very well.  I also have purchased a number over the net.  EBay is wonderful for having the ability to get a bargain.  You are also able to go to a specialised stamp trader or have the excitement of an auction.

 I've learnt a lot and expect to find out in the long run.  I'll then pass the collection onto another generation.
